ELOY - Rosie Montijo, 72, of Eloy died on Feb. 27, 2015, at Chandler Regional Medical Center.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at St. Helen of the Cross Catholic Church, with rosary recited at 7. Funeral Mass will be celebrated there at 10 a.m. Thursday by the Rev. Alonzo Garcia. Burial will be in Eloy Memorial Park.
Ms. Montijo was born on April 11, 1942, in Eloy and was a daughter of Cresencio and Guadalupe Moraga. She was a head cook and supervisor before retiring from the Eloy Elementary School District after 32 years and also a homemaker.
She loved to cook, especially tamales and menudo, and also listening to music, dancing and being with her family. She served St. Helen’s Church as a catechism teacher, loved going to the movies and was very outgoing. She loved her grandchildren and family get-togethers, especially for the holidays.
Survivors include four daughters, Rosemary Leyva of Eloy, Diana Solis of Tempe, Elizabeth M. De Leon of Maricopa and Guadalupe "Lupe" Flores of Casa Grande; a son, Jose M. Montijo of Eloy; three sisters, Hortencia Calderon of Tucson, Minnie Ruiz of Florida and Toni Lopez of California; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Eddie and Pete Moraga.
