Roy Mejia CASA GRANDE - Roy “Rabbit” Mejia, 73, a well-known Casa Grande resident, passed away on February 4, 2025, in Gilbert, Arizona.
Rabbit was born on March 6, 1951, in Casa Grande, to Francisco and Adela Mejia. Throughout his life, he was known for his many talents and passions, including being an artist, music enthusiast, woodworker, landscape designer, barber, storyteller, and his lighthearted sense of humor.
He had a creative spirit and a zest for life, even as he faced numerous health challenges. Despite these obstacles, Rab remained determined to live life to the fullest, and leave a lasting impression on all who knew him. His resilience and faith in God were evident to the end, and he passed with the peace of knowing that God had a hand on his life.
Rabbit’s legacy will live on through the many stories, memories, words of wisdom, and works of art he leaves behind. He will be remembered as a man with a generous heart, who truly embraced life, and loved those around him. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his daughter, Nina Mejia of New York; his son, Michael “Miguel” Mejia of Mesa; six siblings, MaryHelen Perez, Ray and Henry Mejia, Delia Mejia of Casa Grande, Alice Peltcs of Queen Creek, and Elisabeth Diltz of Douglas; and his former wife, Patty Mejia of Mesa. He was preceded in death by his brother, Frank Mejia Jr., and sisters, Lupe Singh, Margaret Torres, and Lily Lopez.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 21, 2025, at J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery
