STANFIELD - Ruben Nevarez Castillo, 75, of Stanfield died on March 14, 2017, in Tucson after a short illness.
Mr. Castillo was born on June 3, 1941, in Casa Grande to Ana and Francisco Castillo Sr. and raised in Stanfield. He went to school there and graduated from Casa Grande Union High School. He served in the Army and was honorably discharged. He spent most of his life working for local companies, including AA Harvesting in Casa Grande, Max Potter Crop Dusting in Stanfield, Neuman Seed Co. in Queen Creek and Western Farm Service in Queen Creek and also Maricopa County Skill Center in Phoenix.
He was known as a loving and kindhearted man, having many friends and being very social. He had a contagious smile and would bring laughter to those around him. Even during his sickness he could joke, kid around and make his caregivers laugh. He always had a great attitude and kept smiling and always had a joke.
Survivors include four adult children, Javier, Matilda, Brian and Cynthia Castillo; three siblings, Tino Castillo, Celsa Coronado and Hope Duran; and several grandchildren. He was preceded in death by six siblings, Frank, Armando, Manuel and Roy Castillo, Angie Eagle and Bertha Garcia.
Scripture service at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 23, at J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel, with the Rev. Ariel Lustan officiating. Military graveside service at 10 a.m. Monday, March 27, in Mountain View Cemetery.
