FLORENCE — Rudolph V. “Rudy” Ayala, 83, a Florence native and resident, died on July 22, 2010.
Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Wednesday at Assumption Catholic Church, with rosary recited at 8:30. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. by the Rev. Charles Cloud. Burial will be in Florence Cemetery.
Mr. Ayala was born on Oct. 24, 1926, and was a son of Ralph B. and Guadalupe V. Ayala. He served in the Marine Corps. He was a second-generation rancher and farmer in Pinal County and also was a corrections officer for the state before retirement.
Also known as Pelon, he was devoted to his family, and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren put a smile on his face. He enjoyed his hobbies and giving to his favorite charities. He loved horses and raising cattle.
Survivors include his wife of more than 58 years, Marie; two sons, Rudy Ayala Jr. and Refe Ayala of Florence; three daughters, Alma Vasquez, Margarita Viola and Cecilia Delsi, all of Florence; a brother, Charles Ayala of Cave Creek; a sister, Gila Martinez of Coolidge; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Ayala; a sister, Dorothy Ayala; and a granddaughter, Adriane Ayala.
