Rufus D. Martinez

Rufus D. Martinez of Santa Rosa Village died on July 27, 2023. Mr. Martinez was born on October 5, 1943, and was the son of Lena Listo and Jose Nisto Martinez. 

Rufas loved listening to chicken scratch music, watching baseball and football. He was a member of Gu-Achi Livestock Association and enjoyed volunteering at St. Francis Xavier Church.  In his younger years he served on Tohono O’Odham Nation Veterans Color Guard.  

He is survived by a son Dennis R. Martinez, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his first wife Josephine Parley and his second wife Annalita Joyce Coochyuoma-Martinez and a sister Lorine Martinez.  

A direct burial will be on Friday, August 11, 2023, in Santa Rosa, South Cemetery at 4:00 p.m. with Mass to follow at 6:00 p.m. at St. Francis Xavier Church, Santa Rosa, Tohono O’odham Nation.
