Ruth I. Hoefert

CASA GRANDE - Ruth I. Hoefert, 88, of Casa Grande died on Dec. 23, 2016, at Family Tys Assisted Living Home.

Mrs. Hoefert was born on Feb. 3, 1928, in Seymour, Indiana, to Homer and Hilda Welch and had been a resident of Casa Grande for more than 40 years after coming from Nevada. While in Nevada, she had been a manager at Lovelock Airport, sold advertising for Reno Newspapers, produced television programs and commercials, and was licensed to sell securities.

In Casa Grande, she worked with her husband in his optometry practice, helping to run the office, and in real estate ventures. They traveled extensively, especially to Mexico and Honduras for charitable work in connection with eye care. She was a 50-year member of Martha Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star in Sparks, Nevada, and had been mother adviser to the local Rainbow Assembly.

She is survived by a sister, Clarice Harris of Texas; a stepdaughter, Kary O’Connor of Casa Grande; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her only child, Steven Alves; her husband, Dr. Karl Hoefert; a brother Neville; and two sisters, Victoria and Mavis.
