Ryan Cole

November 10, 1975 — May 23, 2019

CASA GRANDE - Ryan Cole, 43, died on May 23, 2019, in Casa Grande, surrounded by his family and loved ones after a 12-year battle with brain cancer.

Much of Mr. Cole's life was devoted to service. He received an ROTC scholarship to attend Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. After his freshman year, he served a two-year mission for his church in San Bernardino, California, where he developed a strong faith and a desire to study the scriptures and learn more about his Savior Jesus Christ. Upon his return, he met and married his dear wife and later graduated with a master's degree in civil engineering.

He served in the Air Force for nearly four years, completed a tour of duty in Iraq and achieved the rank of captain. He later transferred to the Indian Health Service with an equivalent rank of lieutenant commander under the Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. After 17 years of active duty, he was given a medical retirement in December 2018.

He loved being outdoors, hiking, camping and enjoying nature. He was happiest when he was with his family and loved to play games with them. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served often in any way he could. He had a compassionate heart and was always willing to lend a hand and share his faith in God with others. He was known for his positive attitude and for recognizing how much the Lord blessed him, especially in the midst of many trials.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 20 years, Kimberly; five children, John, Sarah, Emily, Alyssa and Katelyn; two sisters, Shannon Davis and Anne Hinebaugh; and his father, Dallas Cole. He was preceded in death by his mother, JoAnn Cole, and a brother, Justin Cole.
