Salvador "Chava" Galaviz 72 of Eloy was born July 27, 1947 in Eloy to Zacharias and Tomasa Galaviz. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Sal married Lupe Rodriguez at the Eloy First Southern Baptist Church and they have been married for 40 years. They lived in Eloy where they raised five children together. He was a construction worker for a large portion of his early adulthood. He also worked for the City of Eloy for over 15 years. Sal was an active member of the Eloy First Southern Baptist Church where he loved serving the local community through the church food pantry. He was a family man and enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He was a man of God and had a strong faith. He was proud to be from Eloy and it holds a special place in his heart.
Survivors include his wife Lupe of Eloy; daughters Sandi Rodriguez of Arizona City, Paula Galaviz of Arizona City, Cassandra Gonzalez of Eloy, Sabrina Garcia of Arizona City & Danielle Vasquez of Eloy; brother and sisters, Zack Galaviz, Josie Chavez, Margie Garcia & Tammie Alderete; 9-grandchildren and 3-great grandchildren. Sal was preceded in death by his parents (Zacharias & Tomasa Galaviz); brothers (Amado, Manuel & Gilbert); sisters (Tonia, Lupe, Janie & Adela); & grandchild (Elliott Garcia).
Pallbearers include Art Rodriguez, Robert Vasquez, Santana Garcia, Preston Skelly, Adrian Pacheco & Ezra Garcia.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors, nurses and priest at the Tucson VA Medical Center for the extra special care they took in dad’s final days.
