Sandra C. Smith peacefully joined her husband in Heaven on July 5, 2023, at her home in Casa Grande, Arizona. She was 71 years old.
Born on June 8, 1952, to Goldie and Glenn Bottrell in Grant, Nebraska, Sandie spent her childhood playing with her two sisters, three brothers and numerous cousins throughout Colorado, Nebraska and Wyoming. Sandie graduated high school from Cheyenne Central High in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
In 1970 while cruising “The Strip” in Cheyenne with her closest friend, Connie, Sandie met the love of her life, Steve Smith. She always said she knew that day that she would marry him.
Steve and Sandie were married on February 26, 1971, in Cheyenne, Wyoming. One year later, they welcomed their son, Stephen R. “Russ” Smith. After spending a few years living in South Carolina, Steve, Sandie and Russ moved back to Wyoming where they welcomed their daughter, Stephanie M. “Shelli” Smith-Stewart. Steve and Sandie made their home in Cheyenne and enjoyed watching their children and grandchildren grow.
Throughout her life, Sandie loved most being with her family. When Sandie was called to work, she performed administrative duties in the health insurance field. Sandie officially retired in 2003.
Steve and Sandie loved to travel. They enjoyed camping all over the country and sailing on cruises. Steve and Sandie fell in love with Casa Grande, Arizona and with Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, purchasing homes in both. Sandie spent her last six months enjoying the sun at her Arizona home.
Sandie was a devote Christian and enjoyed services at Cheyenne Hills Church. She very much loved her Bible Study group.
Sandie is preceded in Heaven by her husband of nearly 45 years, Steve Smith; her parents, Glenn and Goldie Bottrell; two grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Sue Bottrell; and her in-laws, Alvin and Irene Smith.
Sandie is survived by her children, Steve (Kim) Smith and Shelli (Eric) Stewart; six grandchildren, Carsen (Kale) Kindschuh, Ethan (Constance) Smith, Braeden Stewart, Brock (Leah) Stewart, Braxden Stewart, Angel Stewart; one great-grandchild, Henry Kindschuh; two brothers, Junior Bottrell and Mike (Diane) Bottrell, two sisters, Bobbie (John) Kuhn and Tammy Stolz; her sister-in-law, Jane (Allan) Simpson; her closest friend of over 50 years, Connie (Wayne) Prather, and her bonus grandchild, Logan Kanzler, and a bonus great-grandchild, Lizzy Hartman. Sandie also enjoyed her numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
It was Sandie’s express wish to forgo a formal service. Instead, Sandie’s children, grandchildren and her great-grandson will hold a private celebration of life gathering in Arizona.
While Sandie lived a fulfilling life full of love and blessings, the most important thing to remember her by is that Sandie was a woman who deeply loved her family.
