CASA GRANDE - Sequoia DuBose, 59, died on March 27, 2017, at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix after a heroic fight with meningitis, surrounded by family.
Mr. DuBose was born on Oct. 4, 1957, in Detroit. Affectionately known by most as "Vegas," he lived a full and gratifying life. He attended Cass Technical High School and Wayne State University in Detroit before moving to New York City and matriculating at New York Law School. He later returned to Detroit and opened a law practice, serving as a defense attorney for more than 30 years. He yearned to spend his retirement years in a warmer climate and eventually moved to Casa Grande, where he lived with his wife, Charlene, and dog, Henry.
After a few months of semiretirement, he decided it was time to look for local employment. He applied at Fitzgibbons Law Offices, where he was welcomed and worked for nine months, considering his co-workers as his family. He was a humble man with a hearty laugh, a brilliant smile and an even more brilliant mind. He lived life with no regrets and never took "no" for an answer. He doggedly pursued his passions and was kindhearted and trustworthy, easily turning a stranger into a lifelong friend. He was an avid golfer, a history buff, a consummate world traveler and devoted to his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Sequina and Michael, and six siblings, Carrenza, Blanche, Reney, Damitoin, Tomell and Pamela.
