Shanard Cornelius Dorsey, a beloved father, partner, brother, grandfather and friend, passed away on November 3, 2024, at Banner University Medical Center in Tucson, Arizona. He was born on October 15, 1976, in Brawley, California, and graced the world with his vibrant spirit for 48 years.
Shanard's life was a remarkable tapestry woven with love, laughter, and a deep appreciation for music. He had an uncanny ability to uplift those around him with his infectious happiness and a welcoming nature that made everyone feel at home. Family was paramount to Shanard; he embraced his loved ones with open arms, never hesitating to offer sage advice to those in need. His sense of humor was legendary, bringing joy and lightness to every gathering.
A lover of life, Shanard had a fervent passion for the Los Angeles Rams and enjoyed dancing when the rhythm struck him. His four children—Ye'treeon, Daja, Jadan, and Jannai—were the pride of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Shanard was especially devoted to his two granddaughters, Keilani and Kataleya, showering them with love and affection.
Shanard's journey took him from California, where he lived for 28 years, to Arizona, where he spent the last 26 years of his life. He was a man of many interests and talents, often describing himself as spontaneous, and always eager to travel and explore new horizons. Despite his workaholic tendencies, he understood the importance of seizing the day and filled his life with experiences that mattered.
He leaves behind a loving partner, Amelia Romero, and a doting family that includes his siblings, Albert Phillips, R'btrice Phillips, Dennis Dorsey, Edwina Edmond, and Jeremy Dorsey. His memory will be carried forward by his children and grandchildren, all of whom were the beneficiaries of his unwavering support and laughter.
Shanard’s spirit will forever be cherished by his extended family, including stepchildren Ylaria Romero, Jade Ventura, and Carlos Ventura, as well as friends like Michael Barnes who had the honor of knowing him.
He joins his late mother, Ruby Phillips, late father, Denis F. Dorsey, Aunt Brenda, Great-Grandma Ruby, Grandma Edwing, and cousins in eternal rest. Each of them welcomed him with loving arms, and it is in their memories that Shanard will always roam free.
As we celebrate Shanard’s life, let us remember the joy he brought into this world, his kindness, and his laughter. He leaves behind a legacy of love that will forever resonate in the hearts of those whose lives he touched. Shanard Cornelius Dorsey will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
