Shirley Louise Weik, 91, a retired extension home economist, died on Aug. 27, 2012, at home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday at J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel. The memorial service will be at 6 p.m., with Pastor Harley Faber officiating. Burial will be in Connecticut.
Ms. Weik was born on July 2, 1921, in Torrington, Conn., and was a daughter of William C. Weik and Laura Stoddard. She served in the Navy during World War II and was a petty officer second class. She later was a Pinal County extension home economist and was active in the community. She volunteered extensively with the Casa Grande Valley Historical Society, writing about Casa Grande's history and supervising the indexing of historical events from the pages of the Casa Grande Dispatch. In 1983 she received the organization's first Sunshine Award for her service.
Survivors include a friend, Carmen Figueroa of Casa Grande; a brother, Richard Weik of Morris, Conn.; 4 nephews, Bruce Weik of Freedom, ME, Steven Weik of McLean, VA, Andrew Weik of Dryden, NY and Tom Weik of Lakeside; Two nieces, Carrie Look of Gainesville, Fl., and Sharon Bemis of Troy, NY; and several great nieces and nephews.
