Simon Vavages

Simon Albert Vavages, 64, of Ak-Chin died on Nov. 13, 2010, at Chandler Regional Medical Center.
Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. today at the Ak-Chin Service Center, with the wake following. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Mission by the Rev. Gregory Rice and Deacon Tom Swisher. Burial will be in Ak-Chin Cemetery.
Mr. Vavages was born on March 6, 1946, in Ak-Chin and was a son of Jose Vavages and Rose Francisco. He was a tractor driver. He was a member of St. Francis Mission and enjoyed spending time with his brothers and listening to gospel and chicken scratch music.
Survivors include two brothers, George Lewis Jr. and Kenneth A. Lewis of Ak-Chin; five grandchildren; and several godchildren.
