Sophie C. Poindexter

CASA GRANDE - Sophie C. Poindexter, 75, of Casa Grande died peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones, on Dec. 17, 2016.

Mrs. Poindexter was born on Feb. 12, 1941, in Eufaula Oklahoma, to Lewis Collins and Helena McGee. She enjoyed many things including fishing with her daughter Brenda and shopping with daughter Kathy. Her love for helping and taking care of others not only surrounded her family but also led to her serving others for 15 years as a supervisor at the Arizona Training Program at Coolidge. One of her greatest joys was being near her grandson Daushawn, her granddaughter Keasi and her dog Shorty.

She is survived by her 13 daughters and sons, Francise M. Kelley, David E. Kelley, Debbie A. Harrison, Jerry L. Kelley, Kathy Beechum, Ernest L. Kelley, Brenda J. Goodman, Bennie E. Kelley, Kenneth L. Kelley, Lashaunda S. Kelley, Anthony Poindexter, Shavon Collins and Daniel Collins; four sisters, Wanda, Ella B, Ida and Phylllis; a brother, Eddie Collins; 34 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husbands William J. Poindexter and David E. Kelly; four brothers, Lewis Jr., Chester, Wendell and Johnny Lee; a sister, Carolyn Collins; and a grandchild, Ernest L. Kelley.

Funeral at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, at First Assembly of God. Burial in Mountain View Cemetery.
