ELOY - Steve Martinez Escarcega, 58, of Las Vegas died on July 19, 2016, in Las Vegas.
Mr. Escarcega was born on Oct. 21, 1957, in Casa Grande to Juan and Rosa Escarcega. He was raised in Eloy and graduated from Santa Cruz Valley Union High School. He then worked for Hexcel, Noranda Inc. and Hanson Spas in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He later purchased the Hanson company and became owner and operator of Spa Pro, a successful company based in Las Vegas. He was a man of strong faith in Jesus Christ.
He was a hardworking man who was known for his kind and generous spirit. He contributed to Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Nevada and provided therapeutic spas to children in need. People called him "MacGyver" because he could fix almost anything. On rare occasions when he wasn’t working, he loved watching the Diamondbacks and camping with his family. He was known for his handsome smile, great sense of humor and amazing heart.
He was the husband of Janet Walker and they shared 10 years together. In addition to his wife, survivors include three sons, Stephen Escarcega of Phoenix, Brandon Baker of Phoenix and Phillip Wolfe of Columbus, Ohio; a daughter, Melayne Wooten of Portland, Oregon; his mother; a brother, John Escarcega of Eloy; two sisters, Lupe Garrison of Eloy and Anna Escarcega Lucas of Casa Grande; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father; his wife of 20 years, Cynthea "Cyndie" Jackson Escarcega; and a son, Wade Walker.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday at First Southern Baptist Church in Eloy. The funeral will follow at 10, with Pastor Ed Bradford officiating. Burial will be in Eloy Memorial Park.
