CASA BLANCA - Steven Burnette Jr., 80, of Casa Blanca died on Sept. 2, 2015, at home.
Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday at the Vah-Ki Multipurpose Center, with rosary recited at 6. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 7 a.m. Friday at St. Peter Catholic Church by Monsignor Ed Meulemans. Burial will be in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery.
Mr. Burnette was born on Jan. 30, 1935, in Sacaton and was a son of Steven and Edna Burnette. He served in the Army for three years and was a Korean War veteran. He later was a farmworker.
He loved going to casinos and watching football, especially the Cardinals and 49ers. He coached basketball and baseball. He was loved and respected in his community and loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include three daughters, Darlene Burnette of Santan, Eula and Stephanie Burnette of Casa Blanca; six sons, Roger, Louis, Albert and Steven Burnette III, all of Casa Blanca, Franklin Burnette of Blackwater and Fernando Burnette of Tucson; a brother, Bruce Burnette of Sacaton Flats; 31 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louella; two daughters, Barbara James and Monica Burnette; a brother, Willard Burnette; a sister, Carol Burnette; and five grandchildren, Belen Madrid, Michelle Burnette, Audrey Antone, Michael and Kalvin Burnette.
