Suzanne Faye "Julie" Acuna

BLACKWATER - Suzanne Faye "Julie" Acu�a, 67, died on Sept. 5, 2018, in Gilbert.

Mrs. Acu�a was born to Erling Blackwater and Delmere Whitman on Feb. 19, 1951, in Sacaton. She married Manuel Aguirre Acu�a on July 26, 1985, in Randolph.

She loved travel, photography, camping, hiking, graphic design and cooking. She was a humanitarian and an advocate for education and was involved in politics and Post 51 Auxiliary. She also was involved in church and the Blackwater school board. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and loved her O'odham heritage: arts, music, pierrot, different indigenous arts and culture.

Survivors include her husband; 10 sons and daughters, David, Virgil and Quanah Jackson, Juan, Florinda, Estevan and Chico Acu�a, all of Blackwater, Eva, Cheri and Estella Acu�a of Indio, California; 39 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three siblings, Erling and Cedric Blackwater and David Perkins, and a grandson, Kyle Jackson Pablo.

Wake beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 13, at the District 1 Service Center. Funeral at 6:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 14, at Blackwater Baptist Church. Burial in Blackwater West Cemetery.
