SACATON FLATS - Terrance James "Terry" Thompson, 44, of Sacaton Flats died on Oct. 26, 2016.
Mr. Thompson was born on Jan. 29, 1972, in Sacaton to Raleigh and JoAnne Thompson. His education included Globe High School, Glendale Community College, Southwest Indian Institute and Collins Graphic Design. After graduating in 1991, he decided to make Gila River his home and became an enrolled member. His mother was from Sacaton Flats.
He was loving, caring, kind and a joker. His family said he lived a "no holds barred" type of life and was always optimistic. He loved his large family and was always there to offer support. Through the years he worked for the Gila River Indian Community, Gila River Casinos and Wal-Mart. He served his church both in San Carlos and Sacaton Flats. He respected his elders and built many friendships along the way. He was married to Angela for 11 years, loved children and had many nieces, nephews and godchildren.
He is survived by a sister, Mary Dewey of San Carlos, and a brother, Patrick Thompson of Second Mesa. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday at the Sacaton Flats Multipurpose Building and also at the Thompson home in San Carlos from 6 to 10 a.m. Saturday. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Charles Catholic Church in San Carlos at 10 a.m. Saturday.
