Terry Harting

FLORENCE - Terry Alan Harting, 69, died on July 22, 2014.

Mr. Harting was born on June 14, 1945, in Canton, Ohio. He joined the Marine Corps on his 17th birthday and served seven years until a back injury and surgery forced him to leave his beloved Corps. He then began a 31-year career at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, Washington. He retired and began his second career coordinating medical appointments and driving the activity bus for nursing homes and assisted living facilities in the Port Orchard and Bremerton area.

He and his wife moved to Murphy, North Carolina, in 1999 and then to Blairsville, Georgia. He retired as head of the security department at Union General Hospital in Blairsville in 2007. He was admired for his strength and determination and was devoted to his family.

Survivors include his wife, "Rowe"; a son, Jason Harting; three brothers, Tim, Dan and Dave Harting; and two grandchildren.
