Theron Denman

ELOY - Theron Alvin Denman Sr., 76, of Avondale died on June 19, 2014, at Hospice of the Valley, Palm Valley Unit in Goodyear.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at J. Warren Funeral Services, Valley Chapel in Eloy. The funeral will follow at 11, with Bishop Quacy Smith officiating. Burial will be in Eloy Memorial Park.

Mr. Denman was born on July 9, 1937, in Kennard, Texas. He was a farmworker and a baseball, basketball and football fan. He enjoyed "battling the one-armed bandits" at casinos.

Survivors include four daughters, Diane White, Roycella Mitchell of Phoenix, Kathy Ann Denman Harper of Avondale and Vera Denman of Huntsville, Texas; five sons, Theron L. Denman, Theron A. Denman Jr. of Phoenix, Anthony Denman of Glendale, Andre and Chris Denman of California; two sisters, Etherine Upshaw and Joyce Lumpkin of Texas; 28 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.
