Thomas Alan "Tom" Gowans, 59, of Casa Grande died May 8, 2009 at Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa.


Mr. Gowans was born March 21, 1950 in Emmetsburg, Iowa, and was a son of John and Mae (Rosacker) Gowans. He was a carpenter and avid outdoorsman in both Ruthven, Iowa, and Casa Grande, where he moved with his family in 1988. He was an active member of the Ruthven Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed spending time with his children and granddaughters as well as his Silver Bullet family.

He is survived by two children, Seth and Dara Gowans; his mother, Mae Gowans; two brothers, Douglas and David Gowans; two sisters, Jackie VanOosbree and Joanna Gowans; and two granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his father, John Gowans, and two brothers, Bobby and Gary Gowans.

No service is planned.
