COOLIDGE — Thomas Van Honea Sr., 75, of Coolidge died on Aug. 22, 2012, at Southern Arizona VA Medical Center in Tucson.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Coolidge Church of the Nazarene. The funeral there will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday, with Pastor Curtis Adams officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. in National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona Phoenix, Arizona.
Mr. Honea was born on April 22, 1937, in Dallas and was a son of Thomas V. and Eunice Honea. He served in the military and was an auto mechanic. He was described as a simple man who had a love for God and his family and touched the lives of others. He enjoyed barbecuing, fishing, whistling and spending time with his family, especially the children.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Frances; two sons, Samuel L. Honea of Coolidge and Thomas V. Honea Jr. of Guatemala; a daughter, Jean M. Goodrich of Dewey; a brother, Larry W. Honea of Casa Grande; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Oscar, Kenneth, Leroy, Bobby Ray and Eugene Honea, and two sisters, Betty Bethrum and Mary Timmons.
