Thurman Loren Armstrong, 84, of Casa Grande died on Feb. 23, 2010 at home.
The celebration of life will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Central Lutheran Church in Arizona City, with the Rev. Thom Stephens officiating.
Mr. Armstrong was born on July 28, 1925 in Fort Wayne, Ind., and was a son of Hurles R. and Wauneta Armstrong. He served in the Navy during World War II and was aboard the USS Enterprise as a night squadron navigator. He later was a school superintendent. He enjoyed stained glass work, hunting and golf. He was a lector and eucharistic minister at St. Helen of the Cross Catholic Church in Eloy.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Cleone; five daughters, Marsha Armstrong of Troy, Mont., Vicki Clevenger of Gibbon, Neb., Cheri Waggoner of Alma, Neb., Kristi Bickle of Gilbert and Nikki Stambaugh of Marana; two sons, Jack Armstrong of North Platte, Neb., and Dick Armstrong of Maricopa; a sister, Dorothy Braley of Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother, Ray Armstrong of Bay City, Mich.; 19 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
