Timothy Paul "Tim" Gilbert

MARICOPA - Timothy Paul "Tim" Gilbert, 48, died at home in Maricopa on Nov. 28, 2018.

Mr. Gilbert was born on Jan. 17, 1970, in Terre Haute, Indiana, to William and Dorothy Gilbert. He joined the Navy in 1989 and served as a helicopter crewman, aviation electrician, C-130 flight engineer and instructor. He served for 21 years and retired with honors in 2010.

He then obtained a nursing degree and worked as a registered nurse for the past five years. He loved taking care of his patients and was continually recognized for his excellence in patient advocacy and care. He touched many lives whether it was on the track racing motorcycles with his daughters and friends, playing pranks on his friends and co-workers or just hanging out playing his guitar and making a good time for all. He was known for his infectious smile and caring nature.

He married Chandra Gustafson and raised three beautiful daughters. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Jordyn, Emily and Haley Gilbert; his parents, Dean and wife Lori Cook, William Gilbert and Dorothy McCullough; and five siblings, Billie, Angela and Jarrod Gilbert, Randy Johnson and Lori Johnson. He was preceded in death by his beloved mom Tena Cook and a sister, Alice Vester.

Funeral at noon on Monday, Dec. 10, at Graceland-Fairland Funeral Home in Decatur, Illinois. Full military honors graveside service at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery in Decatur.
