Tomi McCann
FLORENCE — Tomi L. McCann, 84, of Florence died peacefully at home on July 17, 2010, of complications from Lou Gehrig’s disease.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Thursday at Assumption Catholic Church by the Rev. Charles Cloud. Interment will be in Florence Cemetery.
Ms. McCann was born on May 2, 1926, in Fabens, Texas. She married Edward G. McCann, and the couple moved their young family to Florence in the 1950s. They owned and operated Florence Department Store, which later was named McCann’s Department Store. She was a homemaker and later in life baby-sat several Florence youngsters. She enjoyed working in her garden, decorating her home, music, dancing and cooking for her family.
Survivors include her former husband, of Phoenix; five daughters, Laura McCann of Newton, Mass., Norma McCann of Phoenix, Tomi J. McCann of Chadds Ford, Pa., Jotina McCann and Mima McCann of Florence; a brother, Manuel Rangel of Chowchilla, Calif.; three sisters, Mera Saenz and Juanita Lara of Las Angeles and Mary Ortega of Anthony, N.M.; three grandsons; and a granddaughter. She was preceded in death by a brother.
