Tracey Marie Hernandez, 56, of Mesa died on Sept. 11, 2012, at Banner Desert Medical Center, with two of her children by her side.
A celebration of life will begin at noon Sunday at the Rachel Pitman home in Arizona City.
Mrs. Hernandez was born on Dec. 6, 1955, in Victorville, Calif. She was a devout Christian, had a big heart and lived for her family. She worked as an advocate and dedicated herself to helping others in the field, assisting people with developmental and physical disabilities. After retiring, she devoted her time to her children and grandchildren. She was known for her sense of humor and was able to brighten the lives of those around her with laughter.
Survivors include her husband, Mike; three sons, Adam Hernandez of Tucson, Michael Hernandez of Portland, Ore., and Christopher Hernandez of Anchorage, Alaska; two daughters, Alisa Cota of Glendale and Rachel Pitman of Arizona City; two brothers, Daniel Spillman of California and Mark Spillman of Virginia; two sisters, Dana O'Malley of New Jersey and Lora Kuntz of Belleville, Wash.; and 15 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Shirley and Jay Spillman Jr.
