Valerian Francis Vavages, age 85, of Bapchule, Arizona, passed away on September 8, 2024. He was born on October 4, 1938, in Santan, to Clement and Juanna Vavages.
Valerian was known for his warm and engaging personality; he easily made friends and had a genuine love for conversation. His passion for music was evident, particularly in his fondness for Rock-n-Roll and the iconic Tina Turner. Valerian savored simple pleasures such as ice cream and watermelon, and he enjoyed watching his favorite television programs through Dish TV. A devoted sports enthusiast, he proudly supported the Cardinals. His deeply rooted Catholic faith was an integral part of his life.
He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Vavages, and his sons, Stephen and Michael Vavages. Valerian also leaves behind seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Valerian is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Della; his daughter, Cynthia Vavages; his brother, Patrick Burnette; and his sister, Mary Ann Gomez.
A Mass in his honor will be celebrated on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. at Saint Anne's Catholic Church Mission in Santan, with burial to follow at Saint Anne's Catholic Cemetery.
