CASA GRANDE - Velma Mae Lowe Walker, 87, of Casa Grande died on Nov. 21, 2015, at Oasis Pavilion Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Southern Baptist Church. The funeral will follow at 10. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
Mrs. Walker was born on July 11, 1928, in Gilbert and was a daughter of Charlie C. Lowe and Blanche K. Ramsey. She was raised on a farm and attended school in Gilbert before going to Arizona State Teachers College, now Arizona State University. She taught in Stanfield for 30 years and loved teaching and her students very much.
During summers she helped her husband with wheat harvesting as a crew cook and bookkeeper. She enjoyed her retirement at the cabin in Lakeside and also enjoyed baking and oil painting. She was a talented seamstress and played piano and taught Sunday school at Stanfield First Baptist Church for many years. She was a very devout Christian.
Survivors include two sons, John P. Walker of Casa Grande and Ted Walker of Sonoita; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Jim; a son, David Walker; two grandsons, Gary and Adam Walker; a brother, Lewis Lowe; and two sisters, Mildred Kasitz and Lucille Coppedge.
