Vera M. Antone entered into rest on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at her home. Vera was born April 20, 1932 on the Ak-Chin Indian Reservation and was a life-long resident of Ak-Chin. She received
her teaching certification from Arizona State University and was employed at the Ak-Chin Community Center from 1967 until her retirement in 1994. Vera also served as a Member and Vice-Chairman of the Ak-Chin Indian Community Council. She was a generous person who was loved by her many nieces, nephews, other family members, friends and God-children.
Survivors include her stepdaughter, Bernadette White, grandchildren, Delbert White and Corrina Martinez, her greatgrandchildren, Nikolai and Dominique White, Angelica, Jose,
Josefina and Augustine Salas-Vargas and Perris White. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis J. Antone, Sr., her parents, Joseph and Josepha (Lopez) Thomas and siblings,
Anthony, Herbert, Harry and Edmond Thomas and Lena Enos, Bernice Lewis and Esther Carlyle.
Mass will be at 6 p.m. on Friday, June 20, at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Msgr. Ed Meulemans will officiate. Visitation will be immediately after Mass at the Ak-Chin Service
Center from 8 to 10 p.m. Burial will be at 6 a.m. on Saturday, June 21 at the Ak-Chin Cemetery.
J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maude the Gardens Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
