Vera O. Graham, age 93, died suddenly on September 13, 2021 at her home in Arizona City, AZ.
Vera was born in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, one of 7 children. While growing up she was her Father’s right hand, always helping on the dairy farm and operating farm equipment. When Vera was just 14 years old her baby sister Jane was born and Vera became her second Mother providing her daily care. All of the children had a very close relationship.
Vera always had a steady line of suitors but she wouldn’t let that deter her dream of becoming a US citizen which she accomplished in 1956.
Vera studied Nursing, became an Airline Stewardess, a long distance telephone operator, and bookkeeper. She also helped her husband with his businesses. While living in Hollywood Vera was asked to take a screen test for the movies, which she declined. She always admired Myrna Loy.
After moving to Arizona City, Vera became active in the woman’s golf leagues winning many tournaments and trophies. She was well known for her short game and putting skills. Vera was often told her game was “boring” her drives were always near the middle of the fairway. Vera continued to gold until her mid 80’s.
Vera had a very kind heart for cats. Any stray cat knew they would always be welcomed with a head scratch, a bowl of food, and fresh water. During the hot summers she always made sure the birds had tidbits and water too.
Preceding Vera in death was her husband Lester Graham, her parents Arthur and Lydia Tetzlaff, Brothers Max and Lyle Tetzlaff, and sister Echo Epstein. Vera is survived by sisters Lois Ketchey of Calgary Canada. Jane (Barry) Robins of New York, Ted Tetzlaff (Amy) of Wisconsin. Stepsons Ronnie (Donna) Graham of Iowa, Jerry (Pat) Graham of Arkansas. As well as many beloved nephews and nieces. No services are planned.
