Victor Edward Evans Jr., 95, of Willcox, Arizona passed away December 24, 2023, in Phoenix.
Victor was born September 19, 1928, to Victor Edward Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Evans in Sewell, New Jersey. Victor married his beautiful bride, Mary Gertrude “Trudy” Woodford in Tucson, Arizona in 1950 and the couple made a life in Willcox with their three children Mary Elizabeth “Beth” (Dearborn), Jere, and Alice (Wilcox).
A United States Marine Corp Veteran, Victor spent the majority of his career as a water, soil, and resource conservationist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Victor is survived by his children Beth, Jere and his wife Debbie, and Alice and her husband Brian. Victor was blessed with a family legacy that includes 9 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Victor and Mary, his brother Raymond, his loving wife of 71 years, Trudy, a son-in-law Donald Dearborn, and a grand-daughter Linda Evans.
Victor enjoyed wood working, fishing, hiking, and camping. He was known to be able to build or fix just about anything and always offered stoic and sound advice. Those who loved him most will fondly remember him sitting on a patio in the sunshine wearing his signature straw hat surrounded by his family. His children hold cherished memories of childhood road trips and countless adventures. His grandchildren treasure memories of summer camping trips and time with their cousins at “Grammy and Grampy’s House” where he taught them to skate, took them on family walks and to the community pool, and showed off his impressive collection of 8-track tapes.
A private family service will be held in Show Low, Arizona. In lieu of flowers please consider a small donation to your charity of choice in Victor’s honor.
