SACATON FLATS - Virgil Ray Molina Sr., 71, of Sacaton Flats died on Jan. 30, 2016, at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center.

Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Thursday at the District 2 Multipurpose Center, with visitation continuing until 10. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 8 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony Catholic Mission in Sacaton by Monsignor Ed Meulemans. Burial will be in East Sacaton Cemetery.
Mr. Molina was born on Sept. 4, 1944, in Ajo and was a son of Elmer Molina and Laura Hendrick. He served in the military and later was a diamond cutter.

He loved playing the saxophone in his band and teaching his children and grandchildren to play music. He loved working in his yard, going to casinos, visiting with family and friends and telling old stories. He also loved making people laugh.

Survivors include five sons, Daniel Molina of Sacaton Flats, Virgil Molina Jr. of Cockleburr Village, Arnold Molina of Casa Blanca, Shane and Manny Molina of Lukachukai; six daughters, Delores and Elise Molina of Casa Blanca, Janie Allen of Sacaton, Lana Molina of Sacaton Flats, Olina Pablo of Maricopa and Alina Pablo of Sacaton; a brother, Eldon Molina of Ajo; a sister, Laverne Molina of Sacaton; and many grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Bonaventure Molina; a brother, Larry Molina; and his former wife, Geraldine Jane Molina.
