Walton Clark Combs, 79, a longtime Casa Grande pastor, died on April 20, 2014, at Casa Grande Regional Medical Center.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Southern Baptist Church. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. The Rev. Paul Conner and the Rev. Ron Garrett will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
The Rev. Combs was born on Nov. 16, 1934, in Indianapolis and was a son of Chester F. Combs and Ernestine Smith. He preached his first sermon when he was 9 and his first tent revival when he was 14. After attending Bible college, he evangelized for 16 years across the country with his wife, Mabel.
In 1969 he came to Casa Grande with his wife and two sons and started having services at Rebekah Hall on Pinal Avenue until a church was built at 432 W. Saguaro St. He pastored Apostolic Tabernacle for 45 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife and is survived by two sons, Benny and Andrew Combs of Casa Grande; two daughters, Hilda and Sara Combs of Casa Grande; a brother, Charles Combs of Turlock, Calif.; a sister, Cynthia Roberts of Turlock; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
