Wanda D. Lewallen, 89, died on March 12, 2014, at Courtyard Towers in Mesa.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Monday at the Church of Christ in Casa Grande. A service of remembrance will follow at 10. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
Mrs. Lewallen was born on July 17, 1924, in Pauls Valley, Okla., and was a daughter of Carl Sudbury and Inez Standley. Proud of her Choctaw Nation heritage, she was involved in cotton farming with her husband. She was an active bowler and traveled coast to coast competing in tournaments. She was devoted to God and active in the Church of Christ, and also active in a Democratic women’s club.
Devoted to her family and friends, she was loving, supportive, kind, generous and compassionate. A big Phoenix Suns fan, she never missed a televised game and proudly wore her purple and orange Suns jackets.
Survivors include a son, Delbert E. Lewallen of Las Vegas; four brothers, Leonard, Raymond, Arlon and C.D. Sudbury; a sister, Ethel Wade; four grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edison Eugene Lewallen, and two sons, Donny Gene and Elbert D. Lewallen.
