Wesley Jean Borninkhof, affectionately known as Wes, departed this world on December 4, 2024, in Casa Grande, Arizona, a place he proudly called home for the past 54 years. Born on July 29, 1945, in Shelby, Montana, Wes lived a life full of adventure and kindness, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Wes served honorably in the United States Marine Corps as a Staff Sergeant from 1963 to 1967, proudly serving as a Vietnam veteran. His dedication to his country was a testament to his character and love for freedom. After returning home from service, Wes served as a Border Patrol agent from 1970-1995 from which he retired. He poured his energy into building a life filled with laughter, joy, and love.
In 1978, Wes was married to Neyta Borninkhof, his beloved wife of 46 years. Their union was marked by deep affection and mutual support, creating a warm and loving home for their children — Quinn Borninkhof, Lisa Borninkhof, and Michelle Borninkhof Miller. Wes found immense joy in witnessing their lives blossom, becoming equally proud as he watched them grow into fine adults. He was blessed with five grandchildren: Dawson, Allyson, Braeden, Madilyn, and Malori, each of whom brought light into his life.
Beyond family, Wes cultivated friendships that reflected his generous and warmhearted nature. He was especially fond of Daffy Borninkhof, a special pet who was a cherished part of his life.
A man of many interests, Wes found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was passionate about barbequing, grilling, and smoking meats, often sharing his culinary delights with family and friends at gatherings. His love for rodeos echoed his cowboy spirit, a fitting homage to his Montana roots. In his younger years, he embraced the great outdoors with hunting and fishing excursions, often loading up his "Freedom Machine" to explore the natural beauty around him. Even later in life, it wasn’t uncommon to spot Wes driving through Casa Grande in his cherished old truck, a cigar in hand, extending a friendly wave to fellow passersby.
Wes was also devoted to community and brotherhood, being an esteemed member of the Masonic order at Pinal Lodge #30. He had the honor of serving as Worshipful Master during 1987-1988 and was a proud 32nd degree Mason, as well as a dedicated Shriner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Edna Borninkhof, and his siblings, Harley, Stanley, Denley, Shirley, and Angeley. Although they left this earthly realm before him, their spirits undoubtedly welcomed him back with open arms.
Wes will be remembered not just for the milestones he achieved but for the love he radiated and the connections he cherished. His funeral services, a final farewell to a life well-lived, will take place on December 30, 2024, promptly at 10:00 AM at Arizona Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Marana, Arizona. As we gather to honor his memory, we celebrate the rich tapestry of experiences that made Wes who he was — a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who touched the hearts of many and will be deeply missed.
