CASA GRANDE - William Marvin "Bill" Tanner Sr., 82, died on Sept. 26, 2017, at Family Tys Assisted Living Home.
Mr. Tanner was born a triplet at the Stork's Nest maternity home in downtown Tucson to Gladys (Moore) and Clifford Tanner Sr. After graduating from Tucson High School in 1953, he began a telephone company career with Mountain Bell. He was a stockman in Tucson, lineman in southern Arizona, installer in Willcox and Nogales, combination-man in Clifton and central office repairman in Casa Grande and Willcox.
He was promoted to service foreman for Casa Grande in 1969 and retired in 1990. He was a longtime Casa Grande resident.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Marguerite (Fern/Gibson) Tanner; three sons, William Jr., Eric D. and Joel; a daughter, Laura Osborn; two stepdaughters, Carol Zimmerman and Karen Gnepper; a stepson, Ronny Gibson; a sister, Carolyn James; a brother, Robert; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy; two brothers, Clifford Jr. and Fred; his first wife, Norma Jean (Taeger); and a stepson, Douglas Gibson.
Memorial service at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, at Trinity Southern Baptist Church.
