TEMPE — William Owen Hastert, 75, of Tempe died on Feb. 21, 2013, at Chandler Regional Medical Center.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 3450 W. Ray Road in Chandler. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 2.
Mr. Hastert was born on Nov. 10, 1937, in Darlington, Wis., and was a son of Roy and Anna Hastert. He graduated from Darlington (Wis.) High School and the University of Wisconsin — Platteville. He later received a master's degree in education from the University of Illinois. He served in the Army for two years.
He taught for 38 years in Illinois and was a substitute teacher for Corona del Sol High School in Tempe. He was an Elk for 50 years and a life member. He was a devoted Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers fan.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Judith A.; a daughter, Molly Hastert of Mesa; a brother, Tom Hastert of Machesney Park, Ill.; a sister, Roberta Tischler of Watertown, Wis.; and two grandchildren, Aryanna and Aden. He was preceded in death by four brothers.
