William Poindexter

William Poindexter Jr. (Dunne), 82, of Casa Grande died on March 11, 2011, at home, surrounded by his family.
Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel. The funeral will follow at 9:30. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
Mr. Poindexter was born on April 5, 1928, in Washington, Ark., to Gracie and William Poindexter Sr. He was a farm worker and enjoyed fishing, family and friends and loved his boots, hats and listening to the blues.
Survivors include his wife, Sophie C., four sons, Anthony S. Poindexter of Texas, William S. Poindexter and Justin Poindexter of Phoenix and Anthony Scott Poindexter of Casa Grande; five stepsons, David E. Kelley of Georgia, Jerry l. Kelley of Douglas, Ernest l. Kelley of Florence, Bennie E. Kelley of Kingman and Kenneth l. Kelley of Casa Grande; seven stepdaughters, Frances M. Kelley, Debbie Harrison and Lashaunda Kelley, all of Georgia, Kathy Beechum and Brenda Goodman of Casa Grande, Deidra and Andrea Scott of Phoenix; two brothers, Jasper Poindexter of Oklahoma and Charley Poindexter of Texas; six sisters, Lucy Thomas of Texas, Charlene Morrison of California, Luella Swift of Arkansas, Rosetta Williams, Katherine Ford and Pat Poindexter, all of Texas; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by seven brothers, Fred, Bradley, Webster, Ernest, Robert, James and J.D.; three sisters, Ruby King, Thelma Fellows and Joella Welch; and two grandchildren, Ernest Kelley Jr. and Shamelia Martinez.
