ARIZONA CITY - Former Eloy City Councilman Willie Earl Hampton, 66, of Arizona City died Aug. 12, 2014, at Banner Desert Medical Center.
His memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Fountains of Living Water Church, 2300 E. Tanger Drive, Suite 101, in Casa Grande with Apostle Warren Anderson Jr. officiating.
Mr. Hampton was born April 2, 1948, in Tyler, Texas, to Mary Williams and Willie Hampton. He served two tours in Vietnam with the U.S. Army. He was married to his wife, Doris, for 46 years and worked as an installation technician in the telecommunications industry. He was an Eloy city councilman from June 1986 to June 1994 and vice mayor from 1992 to 1994. He was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan and a member of the Moose Lodge in Arizona City and the Eloy Division of Self and Community Improvement. He attended Living Waters Ministry in Tucson. He loved fishing, dominoes, shooting pool, karaoke, hunting, watching Western movies, gardening and playing the dogs and horses. He loved spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He always had a toothpick and was always chewing on it.
He is survived by his wife, Doris; one daughter, Tara Hampton of Arizona City; two sons, Damon of Casa Grande and DeVondrick of Eloy; one brother, William Dean Hampton of Compton, California; one sister, LaWanda Bacon of Elk Grove, California; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Michael.
