Willie Hight

March 5, 1929 — April 9, 2018

Willie passed into God’s care on April 9th, 2018 while surrounded by family. She was born at home on Cement Hill in Hayden Arizona on march 5, 1929 to Charlie and Olive Parker. The third of four children. She graduated from Hayden High School and attended what is now Arizona State University in 1947. The student body was around 3000 at the time and she worked in the cafeteria to earn extra money.
In 1948 she married Jack R. Hight who also grew up in Hayden. They moved to phx in December 1954 and In 1960 they moved to Clarkdale Az. She had fond memories of driving the jeep around Jerome with friends. They moved on to Las Vegas, Nev . in 1962 where She was active in Trinity Methodist church and was teachers aide at Garside Junior High. In 1970 the family moved to Casa Grande, AZ. She retired in 1987 from Central Arizona College where she worked at Gila River Career Center as well as Signal Peak Campus. She and Jack also took Colorado River Trip that year as well as many of the college trips over her years at CAC. After retirement they sold their home in Casa Grande and moved to their property north of Heber living off the grid on 80 acres. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1998 at the Heber Land with many friends and family driving the 20 miles of dirt road off the highway to their home. In 2002 she moved to Coolidge after Jack’s passing to be closer to family. In Dec. 2005 she moved to Sunwest Resort in Casa Grande where she lived for the last 13 years, enjoying many friends and activities at the clubhouse.
She was involved in numerous community acitivities and organizations. She enjoyed reading romance novels. She was a member of Trinity Methodist Church in Las Vegas and United Methodist Church in Casa Grande. Her greatest accomplishment was becoming a member of the Rebekah Lodge. Her grandfather Ernest Carner and mother Olive Parker were members since 1944. She started attending Lodge in Glendale in 1955 and became Noble Grand of Friendship No. 31 in 1958 and President of the Rebekah Assembly of Arizona from Oct. 1976 to Oct. 1977. One of her duties was to visit 28 lodges in the state that year.
She adopted three children and helped another young man along the way.. Robin Allred (Kevin)Casa Grande, Willie Jean Hight Casa Grande, James R. Hight (Brenda) Corinth, Mississippi, and William Hudzietz (Sheri) Tempe, AZ. She has 7 grandchildren: Angela Gonzales, Kristin Razo, Cody Gonzales, Lisa Estell, Michael Hight, Brianna Ryff and Brance Hudzietz, 13 great grandchildren, And many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her two sisters, Mary Julia Huffmaster and Frances Atkinson and brother Charlie Lannie Parker.
She made many friends and became family to many.
