Winifred Ann Gomez, aged 79 passed away on January 7, 2024, in Blackwater. Born on July 19, 1944, in Sacaton to loving parents Edison and Ina Antone, Winifred had a remarkable life filled with love and devotion.
A dedicated employee of the Gila River Indian Community, Winifred found great fulfillment in her work. She possessed a passion for cooking and took delight in preparing delicious meals for her loved ones. Her joy was amplified by the enchanting melodies of George Strait, the beloved "King of Country" whose music resonated deeply with her.
Winifred had a nurturing spirit that extended beyond humans—she had a special fondness for animals. Throughout her life, she lovingly cared for numerous cats and dogs, providing them with a safe and happy home.
Although Winifred was generally soft-spoken and reserved, she cherished the company of her family and dear friends. These precious moments spent together brought her immense happiness.
Winifred leaves behind a legacy of love that will forever be treasured by her son and daughters: Timothy A Gomez, Paulette Gomez-Glass, Melissa Gomez, and Rachel R. Gomez. She is also survived by her sisters Carmen Herrera and Amelia Rodriguez. Additionally, she leaves behind two grandchildren who were blessed to have experienced Winifred's unwavering affection.
